The school year is divided into four, roughly equal terms.
Term One begins Date to be advised & ﬁnishes on Thursday 9th April.
Term Two begins on Monday 28th April and continues to Friday 3rd July followed by a two-week
Term Three begins on Monday 20th July and continues to Friday 25th September followed by a
Term Four begins on Monday 12th October and continues to — Date to be advised. This is a very
busy term for senior students with NCEA examinations and ﬁnal assignments due. Juniors also
have examinations in November.
There are a number of public holidays throughout the year. School closes on these days:

Do I go to school on Saturday?
At Gisbome Boys’ High School, there is a ﬁve-day week, Monday to Friday inclusive. There is
no school on Saturday. School begins at 8.25am and ends at 2.50pm. Except on Monday and
Tuesday when it ﬁnishes at 3.00pm and on Wednesday when it ﬁnishes at 2.30pm and Friday
when it ﬁnishes at approx 1.30pm. School does not start on Tuesday until 9.00am. Each day
contains a short vertical form period except on Tuesday. Roll checks are taken each period.
