Te Ao Marama is Gisborne Boys’ High School’s camp, a superb facility located at the northern end of the Mahia Peninsula. This is a place for learning outside the classroom and is the base for the Year 9 camps which are part of the orientation process.
The centre comprises two buildings, a dormitory block sleeping 32 students with showers and toilets and a dining room kitchen with attached staff accommodation. The buildings are set against landscaped grounds of over a hectare with views of Last Chance surf break and Mahanga beach.
Through a safe and supporting environment students are encouraged to cooperate and participate with fellow peers in a wide range of activities, which include kayaking, swimming, hiking, shooting, caving, hot pooling, raft building, fishing and surfing.
