Co-curricular activities help to build well rounded, multi-talented individuals and team players who know how to set and achieve goals. We are proud to aid in the progress of our students and present a co-curricular package that is unrivalled in boys' education in the area.
At Gisborne Boys’ High School we are proud of the participation, performance and success we enjoy at all levels, local, national and even international. We offer a vast range of team and individual sports and importantly we provide opportunities for all students to achieve relative to their own abilities. All students are encouraged to participate in some form of activity.

Sports we offer at Boys’ High are…Summer Sports- athletics, cricket, cycling, golf, multi-sport, rowing, surfing, swimming, tennis, touch, triathlon, volleyball, yachting,
shooting.
Winter sports- badminton, basketball, cross country, hockey, mountain biking, road racing, rugby, soccer, squash and weight training.
Super 8 Schools
Gisborne Boys’ High School is part of an excellent initiative known as the Super 8. This
is a group of eight boys’ schools across the central North Island who compete in a 
variety of sporting and cultural endeavours. The standards set by the Super 8 Schools are very high, whether it involves academic, cultural or sporting endeavours. Super 8 sporting events provide a good benchmark for our teams here at GBHS.
The programme of Super 8 events has become an integral part of the GBHS sporting calendar. 1st, 2nd XV rugby, hockey and basketball games are played as a Round robin competition on a home and away basis. All other Super 8 sporting competitions are played as tournaments. These include Cricket, Volleyball, Soccer, Squash and Clay target shooting.
