Gisborne Boys’ High School is committed to the learning development of all our students. To this end the school has a Student Support Centre to cater for the different learning and personal needs of some of our students.
The Support Centre is the home of …… The Literacy Teacher, Teacher Aides, Counsellors, Home Room Teachers, Peer Reading Tutors, Student Mentors, Psychologist, Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB) (The latter two are based at our school but support students attending all secondary schools in Gisborne.)
A great many students benefit from extra reading support from the Reading Teacher, Teacher Aide and peer reading tutors. The school also trains Year 12 and 13 students
to assist junior students with reading. These senior students volunteer to give up a study period each week to support juniors in reading.
