The Leadership Programme For Board of Trustees Report
To date we have managed to follow the timelines and achieve all the objectives we set out for the programme. That is, students have submitted applications, the selection panel convened and were in unanimous agreement that all candidates (approximately 34 at the time of closure) would be accepted to the first phase of the programme. From there, they have all signed contracts as well as committing to some form of school support role, e.g reading support, mentoring, sports council etc.
It was also decided there would be some shoulder tapping of Year 12 students who didn’t apply to be invited into the programme. These were students for various reasons had not come forward at the time of the initial invitation. There have been a few additions from this process.
Turanga Ararau have forwarded a proposal to provide some support for this programme and in principle, I have accepted their proposal and I am working through the finer details to ensure we use their knowledge and expertise. (See attached proposal).
This term will be focused on monitoring their behaviour and academic progress through the 3 A’s programme. To date, no candidate has managed to have their name on this list.
Every candidate to my knowledge who was available took part in the Relay for Life event over the weekend of March 13th and 14th which was pleasing to see. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Mr Manuel over that weekend and throughout this Term so far. The final act this term will be to convene to see which candidates move forward to the next phase which is the leadership camp I am proposing for week two of term two.
