House System

The School re-introduced a House System in 2006.

The house system is an ideal framework for providing an effective environment for learning and growth. In all events participation is important but success is promoted. Each year there is a competition for the best house, that is the house with the highest total of house points.

House points are awarded for participation and achievement in inter-house activities. House points are also awarded by teachers in the classroom for excellent work or an outstanding effort. These house point cards are a positive way in which we try to encourage and motivate our students through rewarding positive behaviours.

Form classes have been organised into four house groups – Tangaroa, Tawhirimatea, Tumatauenga and Tane Mahuta.  Each house has two staff member leaders and eight form classes.  Mr Murphy has overall responsibility for all House Competitions.

There is an organising Committee overseeing the running of house activities.  Mr Murphy is the House Co-ordinator.   The Committee formulated a three year plan and the focus this year is to run full school activities, looking for maximum impact by including the maximum number of boys.
