Cricket

Cricket at Gisborne Boys' High School is one of our oldest sports. In 1910 1st XV Rugby and 1st XI Cricket teams were selected and in 1914 the 1st XI Cricket team played its first interschool fixture against Napier High School. Since 1914 the 1st XI Cricket team has established regular interschool fixtures between Hastings Boys' High School, Tauranga Boys' College, Hamilton Boys' High School, Rotorua Boys' High School and then Palmerston North Boys' High and New Plymouth Boys' High, with the advent of the New Zealand Super 8 Schools competition.

In addition to the regular interschool games GBHS 1st and 2nd XI cricket teams are involved in the local men's grade competitions; 1st XI A Grade, 2nd XI B Grade and 3rd XI B Grade.
